Goals

Financial Assistance
Develop Alternative Funding stream and vehicle to supplement seniors with dementia, financially; allowing them to access the level of care necessary to maintain the Quality of Life and Dignity through death that is that is everyone’s human right. The need for highly specialized dementia care facilities with high staff ratios and focus on individual emotional needs of the residents is critical and provided by the Lakeview Ranch Model of Specialized Dementia Care.

Family Support Services:

***This service will have a direct positive affect on the caregiver’s quality of life and in turn their productivity and attendance in the workplace.

Community Education and Suppor
Family Education and Community Training Sessions in dealing with dementia and it’s accompanying behaviors, i.e. Communication techniques to be used with persons with dementia, effective approaches, supportive validation and a better understanding of the disease process and how it affects entire family systems

Volunteer Program
Development, training and support of a network of volunteers in the community that have specific comprehensive training in dementia care giving techniques, meeting the emotional needs of persons with dementia, and diffusing challenging behavior so they can then offer support to both individuals with dementia, their families and informal caregivers either in home or in facilities specializing in dementia care.

Spiritual Program Development:
Develop a rewarding, comforting Spiritual Program for persons with dementia,  by enlisting the support of local clergy and providing them with training in understanding dementia, along with communication techniques, greatly improving their ability to support persons with dementia, through life end.

Endowment Fund Development and Sustainability:
Establish the Specialized Dementia Care Endowment Fund to be used as support for homes using the Lakeview Ranch Model of Care as set in the foundation charter.

Special Projects Fund:
Development and support for an Innovative Animal/Intergenerational Therapy Program combining teens, animals and seniors with dementia.
Special Gardening programs and Outdoor Activities for  seniors     with dementia
Development of dementia specific toolkits designed to help with communication with those with dementia
Transportation Services for Respite Care

Government and Legislative Education on Necessary Systemic  Change
Support for programs and legislative measures that    promote systemic change.

Research:
Design and develop a superior operating model for Quality Dementia Care, Early Stage through End of Life Care including;

Animal - Assisted Therapy, effects on progression of dementia in     elderly and possible reduction or elimination of associated depression and aggressive behavior.
Study effects of Intergenerational Therapy on depression in elderly with dementia.
