Dementia Care Specialists Volunteers of Minnesota

The Dementia Care Foundation was started in 2000 as a MN 501c3 non-profit organization to raise funds for direct care support for those in need of specialized appropriate dementia care and to provide support services for both persons with dementia and their families!Volunteer picture

As the Dementia Care Foundation has evolved we have become acutely aware of the need for a network of specially trained volunteers that are experts in understanding dementia, its varying causes and its progression through end of life. We provide extensive training and ongoing support to those willing to learn and teach effective communication skills, and are able to offer appropriate personal support to those persons with dementia and their families.

Our goal is to develop a network of highly skilled Volunteer Dementia Care Specialists that can be a support system to seniors with dementia not only in long term care facilities around the country, but in their local communities with the intention of providing support for residents and families in their homes.

Become a Dementia Care Specialist Volunteer and help change the face of dementia care in this country.

By becoming a dementia care specialist you will work directly with seniors with dementia in the Lakeview Ranch environment in Darwin and Dassel MN and will be specially trained in the Lakeview Ranch Model of Specialized Dementia Care. In addition to making a significant difference in the lives of our seniors with dementia, you will gain the experience necessary to go out into communities and support families that so desperately need someone that understands the disease, and can teach them about effective communication with their loved one. In addition families need a person who understands and can support the emotional needs of both the person with dementia and their family caregivers.

If you are willing and able to connect on an emotional level with residents, we will teach you the rest!!! Come join us on this rewarding journey!
